ABOUT
Neptune in June is an artist-run project that strengthens local community, supports experimental art practices, and offers artists access to a de-centralized network of professionals in the arts.
We curate exhibitions locally and across the U.S., offer free interdisciplinary public events, and provide educational programs for schools + families. We are also a proud co-founder and organizer of the annual Port Chester Arts Festival. Founded in 2024 by Jenn Cacciola (Co-Founder of the former exhibition and studios space, Ice Cream Social), Neptune in June continues the curatorial and community project begun at Ice Cream Social.
Our exhibitions feature both emerging and established artists, often with a focus on installation and other mediums that are typically more challenging for artists to exhibit. We curate the experience of this work and any accompanying public programs with accessibility in mind for audiences who don’t have regular exposure to contemporary art.
As part of our broader mission, we remain focused on minimizing the impact of local displacement in our hometown of Port Chester, NY. Historically, the arts have initiated city-wide redevelopments in the U.S. that brought local economies back into action, typically displacing locals and artists in the process. We think there’s potential to more responsibly grow equity in small-town America, beginning with a rooted sense of place. Neptune in June operates as an open, living question that asks what it means to consider oneself part of a community and place in its wholeness, perenniality, and history.

Port Chester
We are proudly based in Port Chester, NY. Originally nicknamed “Saw Pit” until the 1830s, Port Chester was known for its boat-building craftsmen in the early days after English settlement, and continues to be a haven for builders and entrepreneurs of all sorts today. Right on the border of Connecticut and New York, it houses the Capitol Theatre (listed on the National Register of Historic Places), our arts neighbors at Clay Art Center and MAPSpace, and is a 10-minute drive to SUNY Purchase College. Port Chester is often a favorite spot for discovering authentic family-owned restaurants, a testament to its long history as a home-away-from-home for generations of immigrant families. Neptune in June is a humble love letter to this place.
